About the Association

 

The “Banks Bowling Association” was established in 1935, to spread the interest in the game of bowling amongst employees of the banks. Membership is open to people employed by, or receiving, or due to receive a retirement pension from any Bank in the United Kingdom, or who had a minimum of two years service in a bank. Spouses/partners of existing members may also be eligible for membership.


New members always welcome

                                       

We offer a varied fixture list with around forty friendly matches, which are played against both County sides, Club sides and those from fellow Associations or Societies. Our matches are played throughout the year meaning we offer both Outdoor and Indoor Bowls to our members. All matches are selected on a mixed team basis.

 

Our matches are mostly at venues in Surrey, Sussex and Kent. This is very much welcomed by our members as a complementary, fun addition to their routine club games. Recent results can be found on our website, along with other helpful information about our Association :

Membership is open to people employed by, or previously employed by any Bank in the United Kingdom, who usually have a minimum of two years’ service. Spouses/partners of qualifying members are also eligible for membership. We currently have around 150 members.

We wear our own distinctive Association Bowls shirts which are offered to new members at a substantial discount.

Membership costs just £10 p.a.
